Recommended Artist: New Kids on the Block

After a lengthy period on hiatus, the popular late 80s/early 90s US boyband New Kids On The Block return with their fifth studio album, 'The Block'. Though the various members of the group have gone on to have careers elsewhere in the entertainment industry, the original line-up remains for this attempt to recapture the success of their first inception. 'The Block' contemporizes their sound by featuring collaborations with artists such as Ne-Yo ('Big Girl Now') and The Pussycat Dolls ('Grown Man'), but fans will revel in the nostalgia of having one of America's biggest boybands back together again.

Movie Recommended: Changeling

As i looked through the music blog, i found the owner of the blog posted to recommend the movie "Changeling". It was weird to me that owner of the blog never posted anything but music. Then i tried to watch it online in xunlei.com. This movie is really nice and it emotionally disturbed me a lot. What I feel is that we should not ignorantly settle problems as unsettled problem can lead to another problem that can be serious. What i deeply understand from the movie is we should be persistent and stand on our ground firmly whatever we feel it is absolutely right to do although there are tremendous threats and harms against us. We must never give up and give in to them. We must also live with hope.

81st Annual Academy Awards Nominated Films

Here are the films that nominated for numbers of categories under the nominatee list.

WALL-E
Several centuries in the future, when human beings have abandoned the earth for a series of orbiting spaceships, the lone remaining being on the planet is a solar-powered robot named WALL-E. As he continues to carry out his trash compacting duties, he gathers up unexpected treasures...including a tiny green plant that has somehow reappeared on the earth's heavily polluted landscape.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
An eighteen-year-old from the slums of Mumbai finds himself competing on the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," where the questions he must answer offer a look back at his earlier life. The show's host, however, insists that he must be cheating and takes steps to force young Jamal to admit that a boy from such an impoverished background could not possibly possess the knowledge necessary to win the show's top prize.

REVOLUTIONARY ROAD
Frank and April Wheeler live a life of suburban plenty that seems on its surface to represent the essence of the post-World War II American dream. In reality, however, the pair are haunted by the thought that they have betrayed their youthful dreams and are trapped in a conventional lifestyle that falls far short of the more bohemian existence they had imagined for themselves.

THE READER
In late 1950s Germany, fifteen-year-old Michael Berg begins an affair with Hanna, a woman in her mid-thirties. Hanna's past contains a dark secret, however, the revelation of which, in the decades following the period of his first experience with love, will both shock Michael and force him to confront his country's history.

MILK
As the emerging Gay Pride movement gathers force in the 1970s, it finds a champion and a public face in San Francisco camera store owner Harvey Milk. Leaving his closeted life in New York behind, Milk moves to California with his lover and soon turns his efforts to politics, campaigning for a spot on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors--a quest that will make him the country's first openly gay man to be elected to public office.

FROST/NIXON
Following his 1974 resignation, Richard Nixon withdraws from public life until talk show host David Frost persuades him--with the help of a sizeable payment--to participate in a series of television interviews. For Frost, the much-anticipated event offers a chance to establish himself as a serious journalist, while the disgraced former president regards the interviews as an opportunity to reestablish himself on the political stage.

DOUBT
The arrival of a progressive priest at a Bronx Catholic school in 1964 leads to a confrontation with the tradition-minded nun who serves as its principal. When Sister Aloysius suspects that Father Flynn may be taking an excessive interest in the school's first African-American student, she responds with a headstrong determination that is either a necessary defense of an abused boy or a heedless condemnation of an innocent man.

THE DARK KNIGHT
Gotham City appears to be heading toward a relatively crime-free future, because of the efforts of Batman, District Attorney Harvey Dent, and Lieutenant Jim Gordon, and Bruce Wayne hopes he will soon be able to abandon his secret identity. The arrival of the terrifying Joker, however, whose actions are motivated solely by his desire to outwit the Caped Crusader, forces Wayne to continue in his role as the city's best hope against the powers of evil.

CHANGELING
When single mother Christine Collins's ten-year-old son, Walter, disappears, she finds herself at odds with the corrupt Los Angeles Police Department of the late 1920s, whose primary interest lies in preserving its own reputation. As the increasingly distraught Christine is subjected to brazen fraud and mistreatment by the police, she finds an ally in radio televangelist Gustav Briegleb.

BOLT
When Bolt, the canine star of a popular television series, finds himself outside the confines of the studio in which he has spent his life, he is baffled to discover that the super powers he has on his show no longer seem to function. Convinced, however, that his beloved owner, Penny, is in danger, Bolt teams up with a worldly-wise cat and a frenetic hamster and sets off on an adventure that will change his life.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON
Benjamin Button's life begins at the close of World War I, when he is born with the body of an old man. As the years pass, however, Benjamin discovers that he is gradually becoming younger even as he grows older in experience and wisdom--a situation that informs his relationship with the lovely Daisy, who reenters his life periodically as they grow closer together in physical age.

Service on Charity Programme

Oh, i so missed to online to spell out my feeling. Last week, i participated in a charity service. I was pushed to take part since 2 years from now but i was reluctant in taking part. From the beginning of the participation, I knew it would be very tiring. However, it would be exciting and challenging. I would see and experience something new from the service. Life is all about experience and grow-up.

I was required to stay overnight so that we could prepare everything on time next day early morning. I was arranged to in charge as a waiter. Hmmm.... i never worked as a waiter before. Here came the opportunity. During the whole process, I enjoyed myself and were not feeing regret at all. Servicing for charity is meaningful. Newly-met friends were nice and funny. I could the power of working together in cooperation.

Among the services, working for kitchen was the most tiring work. They have to cook for 5 meals per day - breakfast, high tea, lunch, high tea again and dinner. They could not rest at all. As I worked as a waiter, i managed to take some sleeps. I always convince myself 'Rest is to step on longer path.' (Xiang619 knows this theory so well, lol).

In a nutshell, the whole service was pretty exhilarating. Now I feel my whole body aching. Oh, so painful and suffering. ^^

Penang Trip

Under the name of my uncle in a club membership, my family was offered to go to Penang during Chap Goh Mei. Ouch!! Long time i do not go to Penang. It has been 6 to 7 years since my dad brought my family to there. Penang is never my favourite place for trip or vacation as I personally think there has no interesting places for fun. Anyhow, i joined under the reasons of family trip and having long holidays.

First Day:
Oh no, as my brother worked for night shift, it was guaranteed that we could not start going early in the morning. Evetually, we started the journey to Penang at around 3 pm. I guess it was pretty late. As everyone was reluctant to drive, Nicholas was forced to drive the car. Sorry, Nick. Haha. During the journey, i enjoyed myself with the moving scenery. Ipoh is famous for beautiful and scenic hills and mountains and i could not stop enjoying it. When were reached the pay toll, we were stopped for not having ticket and accused for breaking in the previous toll. We all were in confusion. Nick insisted not to pay penalty as we would have to pay toll fees from Johor to Ipoh. The amount is pretty high. Eventually, Nick finally realised that we checked in with Touch n Go. So Nick was supposed to pay with Touch n Go. What a mess.

Around 7 pm we reached Ipoh town and Nick looked for a famous restaurant where he enjoyed the food there before. From the beginning, we felt weird with a large number of policecars outside a building. The area looked pretty chaotic. Recalling back the news i read in newspaper, i started to realize the chaos was caused by the politic issue in Perak. While we drove, we were pretty worried with the messy condition. Nearly all shops were closed and few number of people were there only. As my younger sister, Ashley was scared, we were forced to leave the town immediately. Eventually, my family ate their dinner in McDonald.

As day disappeared, i could not enjoy with the scenic view anymore. I started to fall asleep. The road from Ipoh to Penang is pretty dangerous. However, as time was pretty rush, Nick drove so fast all along. Eventually, we reach Penang. Oh my godness!! Traffic jam?! Oh no, we realised we came to Penang on a wrong time. Indians were busy for their Thaipusam celebration. Traffic were seriously jammed with cars caused by the parade. Mostly the roads in Penang are one-lane , it worsened the situation. After the traffic jam, we faced another problem - where on earth the hotel is?!! Nervousness, anxiety and upset... filled our minds. After checking in the hotel, we went to Gurney Drive for supper. The food there is kind of expensive. I was told the hawkers intend to earn more from tourists. Before we went back to hotel to turn in, we were managed to take some photos near the sea shore

Second Day:
Early in the morning, I heard from complaint from Nick about his room - water is dirty and lamp bulbs were broken. So my room was not in good condition as well. After lunch, we went to local famous temples. Anyway, as I never like going to temples, i was forced to go as Mom likes temples so much. Without notice and awareness, we reached a dam. It was holly beautiful in scenery. After the visits, we stuck in traffic jam again on the way going to Gurney beach. Nick was so angry with the 'Penang kia' for their driving attitude. They never practise with give-and-take and patience attitude. They are worse than KL-ian. As traffic was so jammed, our plan on going to beach was interrupted an cancelled and we went back straight to hotel. Holy shit!! Thaipusam ah Thaipusam... We watched 'Red Cliff Part 2' for mid-night show in newly-built Gurney Plaze. The plaza is not bad and comparable with shoppig mall in Kuala Lumpur. Mom... sorry ya. You have to craze with us in watching midnight time. Suffer in you.

Third Day:

After breakfast, we went to Persiaran Gurney to take last photo section.

Overall, the trip was pretty satisfied. With the joining of Nick's girlfriend, Serene, it made the whole trip funnier and enjoyable. Thanks Serene. Playful and naughty Ashley enjoyed photo section the most. So did I. Haha. However, I think I will not go to Penang for vacation anymore judging from the attitude of Penang-nese and the road arrangement.

Open Burning Leaves

This evening, while I mopped th floor,i smelt a choking smell of smoke. Oh god, they open burning again. I so hate that my neighbour alway burns the swept leaves. The wind always blew the smoke to my house, making me feeling suffocate. Sometimes i really wanna call the police to catch my neighbour. I am serious. I even think of buying a big fan and blow the smoke to his house.

When I stayed in hostel, the nearby residents always conduct open burning. The smoke will be blown to hostel everytime, polluting the air in hostel area. Sometimes, the smoke can be as serious as the case of haze in last few years - thick haze surrounded the area that you cannot even see clearly. Sometimes I feel like searching the people that conduct open burning and talking to them or calling the police. But I guess no action wllbe taken as open burning is not a serious issue. Maybe you guys may think that I should not be so serious on it. But when the weather is hot, the open burning will make the weather worse. Just imagine if open burning is conducted almost everyday and the smoke is everywhere, I don't think you will have good mood anymore.

Nowadays, the weather is changing tremendously. Many countries are having trouble with the weathers. Australia is having serious fire, London and Toronto are having snow storm, etc. Can't you guys see the world becomes seriously sick? What we can do are practise green concept - use rice case instead of polyform, use plastic bags to pack the leaves we collect instead of burning them, rubbish type allocation for recylce, etc. Although you guys may think that it is insufficient in power that we are alone in practising. But believe me, as long as we do our parts, I do believe i is enough already. Ask and look into yourself.

4 Things Mobile Phone Can Do

There are 4 things you probably do not know your mobile phone can do. True or not? I don't know. Give it a try, whenever you are free until nearly become crazy or during emergency. Special thanks to Shawn Cha for his information via email.

1. Emergency
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

2. Have you locked your keys in the car?
> Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.
> Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to
> drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
> Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

3. Hidden Battery Power
Imagine your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

4. How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
> To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phon! e: * # 0 6 #
> A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends.

Do's and Dont's In United Kingdom

As we are going to United Kingdom soon, i found out information that is useful that us. Staying there for 6 months is not neither short or long. However, as we go to other country, we must make sure that we are familiar with the culture there. I remember vividly a malay proverb saying that 'Masuk kandang kambing mengembik, masuk kandang kerbau menguak', meaning we must be able to adapt / learn customs of the places we go. Hope you guys will take this message seriously. Don't get yourself into troubles. As long as we respect others, we will be respected back too. I always believe in that. Hope this will help you to 'survive' in United Kingdom.

Here’s a list of thing to do and not to do when you’re travelling in and about UK.

Dos

1. Being Polite
Always be polite in UK as they value politeness highly. Remember to say ‘please, thank you and excuse me’ and practice common courtesy at all times, as they are reserved in manners, dress and speech.

2. Greetings
They usually greet other with a ‘Hello’, ‘Hi’ or ‘Good Morning’.

3. Terms of Endearment
Don’t be offended if you are called dear, dearie, mate, guy, son, ma’am, madam, miss, sir, love, flower, me duck or even chick – it’s a common phrase of endearment and ingrained into the local customs.

4. Queue Up
Standing in line for public transportation and at cashiers is a common practice. Wait for your turn at all times as queue jumping is frowned upon.

5. Handshake
It’s considered customary to shake a person’s right hand when introduced.

6. Hats Off
The older generation considers wearing a hat indoors as being impolite. Do ensure that your hats are off, especially in churches.

7. Covering Your Mouth
Every yawn and cough should be covered with your hand.

8. Smiling and Saying Sorry
Say sorry if you bump into someone and you’ll find that they will say sorry back at you. Also, don’t forget to put on a smiley face at all time as it is regarded as a welcoming face.

9. Keep Doors Open
Remember to hold doors for other regardless of your sex.

Don’ts

1. No Kissing
People in UK don’t usually kiss each other’s cheek when greeting each other.

2. No Burping, Spitting, Passing Wind
These are rarely done in public but if you really can’t help yourself, do follow that closely with excuse me or pardon me.

3. No Staring
Staring is considered rude and should not be practiced when you’re in UK.

4. What’s your age?
It is considered impolite to ask a lady her age.

Trip in SungaI Tenggala

On the 6th day of Chinese New Year, i joined my friends to go to Sungai Tenggala. It is situated in my hometown, Semenyih. This trip was organised to give a farewell to my friend, Joshua who will be going to study in Australia. He was on board 12th Februry, meaning yesterday. Probably he is enjoying himself or busy settling his study registration or other time-consuming procedures.

Back to the trip, it has been a long time I do not to go this recreational place. Recalling back, this place was too famous for death and accidents when i was in secondary education level. So this place is never a good place to be in my mindset.

When i reached there, i saw a big difference in the place. Everything looks pretty okay. My friend told me that it was renovated to attract more tourists and reduce the possibilty of accident to occur. Sounds good to me... To my surprise, it starts to charge money about RM1. To me, i feel it is reasonable as the place was renovated. Alhough it is not prefectly done, i do feel it is okay enough and proves the Government's concern on environment. The place was built with new toilets, walk paths, kiosks, improved-arrangement in plants, etc. Although it is not perfect, i feel contented with all the works done. Well done, Ministry!!

As we reached there at a pretty late time (about 10.30am), there are a lot of people enjoying themselves. As we are energetic and adventurous teenagers, we selected a place which was in deep in the area. Although i like city terribly and can be considered as a city boy, i always love nature. I do like jungles and always look for adventures like mountain climbing, jungle trekking, etc.
After we located our properties and food we brough along, we started to play with the water. The water was cold enough to freeze us. As the girls were scared to get wet, we boys who were always willing to help them out started on pranks. Yao Ying, a poor girl was chosen. As my friends walked nearby her, she has no thought and be cautious on them that my friends grabbed her legs and hands suddenly. She shouted and screamed in scare. They lifted her to the centre part of a area and lifted her up and down. I could see water splashing heavily. Finally she got wet... The next target was Mei Mei. I was assigned to do the same thing like they did on Yao Ying. However, i was not dare enough to avoid unhappiness and not close enough with her to do that. Eventually, Mei Mei became wet chicken. hahaha. What pranks I did on them was keep arising water splashing war and keep pulling the girls' legs to have them slipped into the water. Ying Tze, Lee Chiah, sorry ohh. Haha. I personally think that if you do not come down to the water, you will not have fun and miss out some funs. The funniest thing to me was as i tried on a rapid stream area, my short pants nearly dropped and flow with the water. The bad thing was I did not wear underwear!! Wahaha. Luckily i was helped. I couldn't imagine if i did drop my pants, i may not get back my pants again as water flow rapidly. Leaving half-naked in under part, how shameful it would be. I would become a laughing piece forever. Sighh... Lesson learnt. Never learn from Jay Chou's bad habit.

The overall trip was happy and satisfied. I wish to go there again if there is any chance. However. my next target of place to look for adventure is Taman Pertanian, a place i went on Christmas Day 2008.

Dead Dog!

Visa-free Status

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has retained its visa-free status with Britain. This means that Malaysians can visit and remain in Britain without a visa for up to six months.

Hoorayyy!!! What a good timing for those who are going to top-up their studies in May 2009. As we am going to UK soon, we do not have to bother for the interview anymore. I feel that we are truly blessed that British Government came out with such decision.

According to the stars newspaper, Britain had given Malaysia until December to prevent illegal immigration and improve passport security, crime and anti-terrorism measures and cooperate in deporting Malaysians who overstayed.

I personally think that we Malaysian should be cooperative with the requiements set. Such new policy will bring us convenience. We should not take advantages by overstaying or not leaving from any country. Peace'v'

Saying The Right Thing

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong.

Jack had to force himself to open his eyes and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in Lipstick:

"Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian"

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son... What happened last night?"

"Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door.

Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me??"

His son replies, "Oh THAT! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, I'm married!!"

Broken Coffee Table: $239.99. Hot Breakfast: $4.20. Two Aspirins: $.38. Saying the right thing, at the right time. . . PRICELESS!!!
